Zambesi Health’s vision is to help disadvantaged people in remote rural regions of Zambia to lead a self-determined life through knowledge transfer and capacity building.<\/p>\n

We dream of a future in which small farmers in Zambia can create a sufficient livelihood for themselves and their families through modern and sustainable farming methods – in harmony with people, animals and nature in accordance with the One Health principle<\/a>. Where they get fair prices for their products and thus escape poverty.<\/p>\n

Our innovative agricultural training centers and model farms address local needs and impart tailor-made knowledge from the bottomup<\/a> to give women and men the expertise they need to achieve economic independence. We empower them to take their destiny into their own hands.<\/p>\n

Together with our local partners, we want to drive positive change in rural Africa. Southern Zambia – potential and challenges<\/p>\n

Despite relative political stability, the people of southern Zambia face a variety of problems: Poverty, disease, inadequate education and healthcare characterize large parts of the region. Some of the people here still live a very traditional life and lack many things that we take for granted. <\/p>\n

Political situation:<\/p>\n

The political situation in southern Zambia is relatively stable. The country is led by a democratically elected government that is committed to economic development and social justice. Unfortunately, many measures do not reach everyone. However, there is also criticism of the government in terms of transparency and the fight against corruption.<\/p>\n

Poverty:<\/p>\n

Poverty is a major problem in southern Zambia. Many people live below the poverty line and have limited access to basic resources such as clean water, adequate nutrition and appropriate healthcare. Rural communities in particular are affected by poverty.<\/p>\n

People’s way of life:<\/p>\n

The people of southern Zambia live mainly from agriculture. Traditional practices and cultural customs play an important role in daily life. Family ties are strong and community values are highly valued. Zoonoses<\/span><\/a><\/path><\/svg><\/span><\/path><\/svg><\/span><\/span><\/h4>

The problem of zoonoses, i.e. diseases that can be transmitted from animals to humans, in southern Zambia is all too present. These include rabies, bovine tuberculosis, anthrax and brucellosis.
